Shift your mindset.

It’s okay to have mixed feelings about mental health. Sometimes stigma, shame or embarrassment makes it hard to talk about or ask for support, especially in communities where discussing personal struggles is often taboo.

Breaking the cycle and getting necessary help starts with open conversations, education and self-compassion.

Myth or fact?

Fact: Asking for help and sharing your feelings shows personal strength, not weakness. When you open up, you make space for acceptance and healing.

Fact: It’s normal to need support when things don’t go as planned. Family and cultural expectations can affect your mental well-being, but taking care of your mental health helps you see yourself with more compassion, improve relationships and set healthy goals.

Fact: You can feel thankful for everything your ancestors and family have done for you yet still allow yourself to express your emotional struggles and feelings. It’s okay because two things can be true at the same time. Starting therapy or asking for support is the first step toward healing and taking care of your mental health.

Moving past feelings of shame isn’t easy, but every step forward creates a healthier, more supportive environment for everyone.
